Part 1: A RuneScape History

Step 1

Talk to Brimstail.
Inspect the Strange Machine, the Singing Cup, the Sign.
Talk to Brimstail.
Go to Hazelmere.

Items needed: Bring all items.

Eyes of Glouphrie - Farmer100.com RuneScape GuidesTo start the quest, talk to Brimstail in his cave on the western side of the Tree Gnome Stronghold, just past the Magic trees. First ask him about the Cute Creature, then say that you would love to hear about some history. Brimstail will then tell you to go check out the things in the other room of the cave. You will need to inspect the Strange Machine, the Singing Cup, and the Sign just west of the machine and the Disc Exchanger. Once you have inspected all of these objects, go back to Brimstail.

He tells you that he thinks the bowl is elven and belonged to Oaknock; but that's all he knows. He then goes on to direct you to Hazelmere, suggesting you ask him about the machine and Glouphrie. Teleport to the Watchtower near Yanille and run east to Hazelmere's island or use the fairy ring code CLS.

Step 2

Talk to Hazlemere.
Talk to Brimstail twice.
Inspect the machine.

When you speak to him, you can't understand anything he says. He will cast a spell on you which allows you to communicate with each other without speaking and hence allows you to understand him. He talks about a meeting between the Gnomes and the Goblins and a cut scene begins. He explains within it how Glouphrie used illusory magic to summon several fake tortoises which scared the Goblins away. Then, it shows him in the past having a strange feeling and seeing a silver spirit tree die, but when he arrived the tree was still there but had lost its aura.

Eyes of Glouphrie - Farmer100.com RuneScape GuidesContinuing within the cut scene he talks to Oaknock about it and they agree that Glouphrie is behind it and attempting to hide something. Oaknock makes an Anti-Illusion device and when used on the spirit tree it reveals that Glouphrie really was hiding it and the King kicks him out. Once the cut scene is over, Hazelmere tells you that he doesn't know how the machine worked but it was run with some sort of crystal disc. He gives you a violet pentagon disc and tells you to return to Brimstail. Use a ring of dueling to return to the Gnome Stronghold quickly by going to the Duel Arena and using the glider in Al Kharid.

Talk to Brimstail and you will tell him about your conversation with Hazlemere. He will say the disc looks familiar and he may have a few lying about. Near the end of the conversation, an invisible person will appear. He will destroy the machine. You realize that there must be a spy somewhere using illusory magic and must repair the machine to stop them. Talk to Brimstail again, and he will tell you to assess the damage. Inspect the machine and it will tell you "it looks like it was made with 2 types of wood and a glue that smells like a coniferous tree and held together with something sticky".

Part 2: Illusory Glamour

Step 3

Make the magic glue and repair the machine; tell Brimstail.
Unlock it by doing the puzzle.

Eyes of Glouphrie - Farmer100.com RuneScape GuidesUse your pestle and mortar on the mud rune. Then use the ground mud rune on the bucket of sap to get magic glue. Select 'Repair' on the machine with your saw, hammer, oak logs, maple logs and magic glue in your inventory, then return to Brimstail and tell him you have fixed the machine.

Now that you have repaired the machine, you need to unlock it. The numbers you receive are always random during this part of the quest, so this is how you figure out what shape(s) you will need. Please note you will need to fill every window with a shape to make the number requested or else the machine will not work.

The image to the right shows what the value of each color is. To figure out the shape to put into the machine, you need to multiply the number of sides on the shape by the amount of blocks associated with that color. The colors from left to right are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. You can speak to Brimstail to get more shapes.

So for example, on the following image for the top number, you need one shape that makes up the number six. There are two possible solutions for this number. You could have an indigo circle or you could have an orange triangle. For the middle number, you need two shapes to make up the number five. You could use a green circle and a red circle because green has the value of 4 and red has a value of 1, and each circle has 1 side so you get 4+1 = 5. There is a Disc Exchanger nearby to help you get the correct discs.

Step 4

Kill the Cute Creature.
Talk to the King.
Kill the spies.
Talk to the King.

Once you finally complete this screen the machine is activated and the Cute Creature Brimstail had at the beginning is now black. You kill it and Brimstail tells you to speak to the King about it.

Speak to King Narnode Shareen in the Grand Tree and he tells you to kill all the spies. There are six in all to kill (if you didn't already kill one in Brimstail's cave, otherwise five).
The first is right beside you and the King.
The second creature is next to the glider in the tree.
The third is by the spirit tree to the south.
The fourth is at the entrance to the stronghold.
The fifth one is north of the swamp which is just west of the Grand Tree where the tortoises are.
The final one is in Brimstail's cave.

Return to the King to complete the quest.
